I recently I posted that my 02 F350 was in the Ford dealer. They told me that the torque converter was bad. I finally desided on the Precision Industries converter. They are very nice people, and helpfull. I am so glad I did this. Way better than the stock peice. I picked up the truck on 4/18/06 and the MPG gauge read 12.1 mpg. MPG always goes down when the dealer has the truck because they idle it for so long. But then the Mileage started to go up. I've been do 1/2 and 1/2 around town and highway. Now it's 4/21/06 I've done a total of 45 miles and the gauge reads 13.2. Everytime I drive the truck it goes up. I love this mod. I can't wait to see when I put the Factory Tech valve body in it.
sorry to rain on your parade, but i would not trust the overhead monitor. i call it a "lie-o-meter". the last tank with a heavy foot showed 14.7 on the LOM, but hand calculated it was 12.8. im trying to be more conservative and now it's showing 16.9
What was your symtoms for the bad Torque converter? I think that I may have the same trouble. I can put one in in less than a day, but dont want to purchase one if its actually a tranny problem. Thanks for any info.

My TC went out at 20K miles.. I think it was bad from the factory.. It had a loud rattling noise which was over the sound of the engine at a idle.. Hard to hear any problem once the truck was cruising. Lucky for me it was still under warranty.. Have 68,000 now, no more rattle.
My lie-o-meter as you call it. Is not that much off. More like a half a mile off. Also if you have a chip your computer mileage will be way off. All I got to say it takes alot less throttle effort to get the truck moving an up to speed.
