78 donor for 68

Can I use the enginge towers and mounts from a 1978 F350 460 and a C6.And just swap them into a 1968 F100 that has a 360 with a C6.Or do I have to buy new towers and mounts.These are both 2wdr.

From what I hear they will bolt in,I bought a 77 with a 460 to use in my 66 F250 and I plan on using the 77 mounts and other parts. Jeff

Except for the fact that the 68 has 34" wide frame rails, and the 78 has 38" wide frame rails they should be the same... I don't know for certain... you will probably have to do some drilling to make new holes for the newer mounts...

Good luck!

The frames are the same in front. Any motor stand from 1965 to 1979 that is in a 2 wheel drive truck will interchange. A good friend of mine got the motor stands out of a 79 and put them and a 460 in to a 67. I have a 73, the motor stands that are under my 460 originaly came from a 78, then they went in to a 70, now they're in my 73. No drilling, no cutting, it's a direct bolt in. Just make sure to clean the frame where the stand bolts down extra good. You will find several sets of holes. Just get the correct stand on the correct side of the truck. Then move it around until the 4 holes in the stand match up with 4 of the 7 holes on the frame, and bolt it down. If you have to drill or cut, then the stand is not in the correct position.
