fuel line

fuel line

i have an 86 f250 with the 6.9. what is the thing on the fuel line that has the wire on it. the one from the fuel pump to the filter. is this a check valve (drainback valve) or what.

It is the fuel line heater.

should the fuel heater feal warm if you touch it?

The fuel heater has a built in thermostat to turn it on at temps below 32 degs. at freezing temps will feel warm if its working. if you use anti gelling additives in the winter you dont need to worry too much about the heater
