gas guage problems
I inherited my father in law's 89 f150. 5.0 with AOD. It did not have the tach guage cluster, so I acquired a cluster from an 89 and installed it. Now the gas guage "makes gas" and reads full or fuller all the time. It is going the wrong way. The resistance seems to match the sending units of an E series whcih is back wards from the f series. Any one have any ideas?

Did the gauge ever work after the swap? The guage in my car one day went over past full and stayed there. I bought a new sending unit--$82.54 at the Ford dealer. A couple days ago someone else on here was having a problem and maybe some of the info in there might help you:
