Those pictures were taken about 3 years ago not long after i bought it. the engine was froze up and i took out the spark plugs anf loaded it with MM. i let it set for about a week occasionaly trying to turn it over. then one day it moved a little. Each day i was able to turn it a little more. Then it freed up pretty good and i put new plugs, points, condenser, new plug wires and coil. Tried to start it for about another week with no luck. I refilled it with more MM and let it set there for 3 years. A week or so ago, i got the bug to give it another try. Got a fresh can of gas and dropped a hose in it, rechecked the timing hooked up a 12 volt coil and 12 volt solenoid. I disconnected all the other wiring then gave it another try. That sucker spun a few times and fired right up like i used it yesterday. Smoked like crazy for a few minutes then ideled on its own pretty smooth. I turned around and looked at my wife sittng on the back porch with thumbs up. I guess you can imagine the smile on my face. Both water pumps was pouring out the water fast. I ordered new ones. After i get them installed, I'll start it up again and see if it moves.
Not sure Exactly how much i'll do to it yet. I'd like to at least get it to the point where i can drive it. Got lots of idea's but so far its mostly idea's.
Thanks for looking. Having a great time on FTE.
Hey! great job on getting the gallery figured out.
Wow!! what a great looking truck and a great story. That is very cool. This is a great story for those of us who like to procrastinate on everything. It really paid off for you.
With a truck like yours I would try and keep it as close to stock as I could while making a few basic safety and comfort upgrades.
