After spending over $1600 to have my 240 rebuilt...I have a vibration. Its there at idle and increases slightly with the RPM's increasing.
It felt like a fouled plug or bad points so I replaced the cap, rotor, wires, points, condenser, and plugs. It helped a little, but is still there slightly.
Could it be the dwell setting that is causing this??
does it do it with the clutch held in? if the shop that rebuilt the engine is reputable i would take it back and have them look at it. it could be a bad pressure plate or flywheel. it could be the tranny also. do you know what tranny it is? it could also be something internal in the engine. may be something as simple as a bad damper on the crankshaft.
I pulled the engine...had it rebuilt and then put it back in. The flywheel was resurfaced and torqued down to the correct specs. I am starting to think that it is the harmonic balancer. Mine is the original one and the rubber is pretty cracked.
I am having alot of trouble finding a new one though.
