It is to my understanding that ford made two different AOD trannys one with a 2.40 first gear and one with a 2.84 and was wondering which would be in my 1984 f150....thanks.....Brett
Hi, Casey! I'm a real newbie- both to the forum, and to being a truck owner.
Did all the 93 F-150's (automatics) have the 4R70W tranny? What other info can you provide?
Is there a spec chart here, or some place I can find more info?
Further on this subject. I believe I can put the 2.84 gearset into my early AOD but what do i need to do it? Do I just need the planetary setup, or do I need the clutch pack, etc to make this happen. My AOD works great but I always wanted the lower first gear for the little towing I do. I currently have 3.70's in the 9 inch with a 5.0 SEFI HO out of a late model Mustang. I don't tow a ton, so the setup works for me but I would really like that lower gearset.
