I've noticed a considerable coolant leak from the upper passenger side of the plastic casing on the radiator. Being a '97 with orig radiator, I prepared to replace it. How difficult will this be? I'm also going to replace all of the hoses and install a new water pump as well. I will also be replacing the t'stat. What else do I need to attend to? What do I torque the water pump bolts to?
make sure you run a chemical cleaner through the system and back flust before you tear it apart, keep in mind antifreeze is sweet smelling and toxic, so clean up so animals do not drink it.
The fan shroud is secured by 2 bolts and so is the rad, 15min to re/re after the flush.
Recommend you do not scrimp on the replacement fluids, you whole system depends on it.
Clean and Use a good sealant on all mating surfaces
72-102 inch pounds for the waterpump bolts
Make sure the vent hole on the T-stat is @ the 12"o"clock position

Also, don't go for an after-market T-stat (like a Stant). Go ahead and spend the extra $2 and get one from Ford. It has a small "key" on the T-stat that locks it right at the top of the housing making installation a snap.
