this is the second tranny that i have 0put in my truck it had a manual tranny to start with but the problem im having now is it only has park reverse nenutal and low range some people told me that it is the passine gear cable that hooks up on the throttle body if so how do u ajust it and what esle could it be if u have any answers let me know because i dont want to pull another tranny out
If you don't connect the throttle cable and adjust it correctly you'll destroy the direct clutch in the first mile that you drive it. Then you won't have 3rd or 4th gears.
There are different systems out there for the AOD. I'm not familiar with the truck method of adjusting the cable.
The TV cable goes from the carb or throttle body to the transmission. Adjustment is VERY important. Try going to "baumann engineering" and "Lokar performance products" websites, they have good write-ups about the AOD.
My truck was originally C6, then was AOD and now is E4OD but I still remember some things...
To calibrate TV cable, in my experience (Using the original TV cable hardware); just install a pressure gauge at the TV pressure port form 0 - 30psi pluss a hose long enought to reach the carb area.
Releese the TV cable clip and releese all tension to cable, make sure tranny is in Neutral (Use Service Brake), engine & tranny at operation temperature, engine is at hot idle and climatic control lever is totally off way.
Start engine DON'T press gas pedal !! keep the throttle in Wide Close Possition with left hand while you move the TV cable assy with right hand until pressure gauge read just 0.5-1 psi, then press the clip in again. That's all...
This is the seting for stock performance, then it shift like a Mercury. But in my experience I preffer set it up to 3 psi, this extend tranny life a lot while still shifting like a real truck.
