If you've gone the better part of a year without any noticeable transmission operating problems or leaks then I'd say you are probably OK, I've always been told not to put DEXTRON fluid into an earlier Ford automatic transmission, I think mostly due to the different fluids causing the seals to leak, but when I had my C4 in my '78 F150 rebuilt 3 years ago they put in Dextron from the get go, said it would be easier to find for later use, so thats what I've always used since.
dexron into a ford makes for firmer shifts and more heat from friction. it may cause some wear but if it was a rebuilt trans you are probably fine. if it is an original trans it may shorten the life of friction components. now put some type F in a GM trans and give a whole new meaning to the term sluch box! hawkrod
To my knowledge it is an original tranny, looks like I may need to change it again just to feel safe about it. How can I ensure it's all gone. Drain the converter?
