Not Running right

About 5 months ago my engine started acting like a cylinder started missing but it does not do it all the time (i can go days with out it having a problem and other time it does it all the time) and my check engine light DOES NOT come on while it is doing this. I have replaced my fuel filter, spark plugs, have ran injector cleaner through it, and have tried different brands and octaine levels of gas (at least three tanks each) and nothing has helped. Please help.

Welcome to FTE, et2bs.

It sounds like you have a bad COP (Coil Over Plug). There are 2 ways to identify it:
(1) Get a new COP and switch them out until you find the bad one
(2) Get a dealer to run a diagnostics on the engine.

Simple fix, but hard to locate sometimes.

I agree with Mr Big .
and also when you changed the plugs were new boots used ?
They crack and get brittle and alow moisture to shortout the sparkplug.
or spark to jump the path of least resistance to ground.

Thanks for the info

I was talking to my friend awhile back and he said that it might be a COP.
I also never thought of checking the boot I will get right on that.

Speaking of COP's I can get a set of 10 used ones from Kragen for about $55 (they are garentied good) or would you recomand getting 1 new one at $66?

I just hope that I don't have to take it to a dealer for diagnostics, since I will get there and watch it will run just fine.

Thanks for the info again and I will be sure to post weather or not this works.

Personally I would get new COPs and boots.

Buy ONLY ONE new COP!

If you can get the misfire counters read in the computer, that will tell you exactly which cylinder is giving you problems.

If you can't (or won't) get it read, just put the new one on cylinder #1, and if that doesn't fix it, move it to #2, #3, and so one.
