Xfer case motor

Just a quick question, is it only the 3 screws and the plug that hold the electric motor onto the transfer case? I was talking to someone at work that says there's 3 wires also going into the case, is this true, I haven't looked at it in a while. I have a 92 E4OD. I was under the impression I could just unplug the wire connector and remove the 3 screws.Thanks...Al

I changed that motor twice on my old truck. (My new one doesnt have it) I thought they did away with it in 90' In any case, It was easy as you said. There may have been one other conection to the magnetic lock up ring. Its been awhile. But I remember it was easy.

If i have not used 4WD lately I shift to neutral, hold brake and punch in 4H and 4L as often as I can think if it, usually about once per month, to keep the motor moving. I don't think it had been in 4WD for ten years when I bought it. Four or five sessions of button pushing got it working. I did not want to do more than about ten shifts at once in fear of overheating the motor.
