Where' the VIN number
On my 1971 F-100 body the only places I could find it was on the driver's door (metal plate) and a decal on the driver's door frame. Mine had been taped up and painted over so many times (three different colors) that it was just a fluke that I found it.

The absolute go to number is stamped into the top of the passenger side frame rail about where the axle crosses under.

Where' the VIN number
The problem is the driver's door has been replaced some
time back before I purchased the truck in 1983. There is
no tag on the door anyway. I do have a vin number from the owner. I just wanted to verify whether the engine is original.

Where' the VIN number
There is no way to verify the original engine that I know of, even if it is the same varity as the one factory installed. The VIN is on the chassis rail.
