I'm getting ready to put 285/70's on my stock '03 F150 4x4, and I read somewhere that the front end of the truck can be lifted by cranking on the torsion bars.
Would someone please provide me with the How To's on doing this? Right now, the truck sits nose down (seems to be stock compared to other trucks I've looked at). How high can I raise it using this method, and are there any drawbacks to doing this? Any affect on ride?
Ride will stiffen & you will need to get an alignment afterwards.
Jack the truck up, (entire front end) and please use jackstands. Jacks are not always stable. Make sure it if lifted by the frame or somewhere NOT on the front suspension. That will take alot of the presure off of the bolts. Follow the torsion bars to the back end and you will find the bolts. Crank them in. Just make sure to crank them the same number of turns. You will get about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of lift on the front end.
Thanks for the quick response. Sounds like it's not too difficult. I'll probably put the new tires on, see how it looks, and then determine how high to raise it.
