I am considering buying a 2001 F-250 Lariat V-10 but it has 102,000 miles on it. The seller says all he has done with it is oil changes every 3000 miles and he hasn't had any problems. I am just wondering what everyone's opinion is on how many miles I can get out of this truck without major problems?? It looks like its in great shape. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
If the truck was properly maintained, then you should easily get another 100,000 miles out of it. If everything checks out to be good, and the price is right, then get it. I would try to find a V10 with the 4.30LS rears but if you really like that truck, then get it. There really aren't a whole lot of known problems for 2001. Most of the problems have been solved.
if it's in good shape go for it. those miles are nothing for a well maintained v10. the 01 has the better heads. only rear axle wise they came with 3:73's and a 4r100 auto trans which at those miles if it hasn't been done will need to be in ??? amount of time. as the direct drum planitary set is weak. but thats not major just costly i'd drive untill it fully acted up if ever then fix it. lariat is a nice soft leather seating and look go for it.
good luck man
and i see new user welcome to fte and our v10 area of the bseg . hang around lots of us old timers in here that love peice and no noise in our rides that the v10 gives
