engine dies when headlights on

Did a search but results did relate or fix the issue.

I have a 93 XLT Bronco 351W 5.8.
4 inch procomp lift, 35 in tires, 4:56 gears

Whenever I go to turn on the headlights, the engine dies. I just had a new Optima (yellow) battery, and new alternator from fordfuelinjection and starter solenoid installed professionally.

The Bronco drives fine untill I go to pull the headlight switch - then it just dies. The stereo, interior lamps and even my off-road lights work fine. Even when no accessories are on, the headlights still kill the engine. Starts perfectly fine though.

I had the codes checked with no codes being thrown. I checked all the fuses and they look good.

I'm not sure where to go from here. Anyone else ever have this issue. Thanks for your help.

Check the charging system with a volt meter or take the Bronc to the nearest Autozone or Checker for a charging system test.

The engine and ACC. might be running on battery power.

the same thing happened to my 93 5.0. the headlight would dim and then it would die on me. there was a loose ground near the right headlight. check over there by the batter and make sure all the connections are secure.

Hmmm If this problem didn't start until you had all those electrical parts prefessionally installed...take it back and make them fix it. Should the the repair shop's problem.

otherwise....what was already said. Behind the passenger side headlight. Happened to me too.

It's fixed. Blackened was right on the mark. It was a loose ground near the passenger headlight. No more problems, thanks to all for the input!
