I went to Moab to check out some rock crawling saturday. The tail end of the Easter Jeep Safari was just winding down. I did get to see a mid 70's Ford 250 long bed kick some serious butt on "Patato Salad Hill". After seeing a few Jeeps strugling to get up and a few Toyotas struggle, along comes "Brown Ford Guy" with his full size 30 year old rig. He not only blazed right up the hill, he then came back down, but the real show stopper was after he came down it, he stopped and backed up it! The crowd went wild! Then he proceedes to race a toyata up it, and won! Toyota guy wasnt happy with that so the challenge continued, Toyota guy lost again!
Makes me even more proud to be American! I was tempted to give it a try with the Super Duty. Nah, just kidding. The big brown Ford definately was not stock, he had some $ spent on the thing, but then so did the Toyotas
LWB vehicles definitely have an advantage over us SWB Jeeps and Samurai's on that hill, especially on those top steps. I've donated a couple of Burfield's to that sucker. But if had to be anything making a Jeep or Samurai look silly, I'm glad it was a Ford. It just irks me that I wasn't able to make it to the Easter Safari this year.
Too bad that after these type of events, I allways feel I need to dump a bunch of $ into my rig. Wouldnt be so bad except I dont have the $ to dump into it Guess I'll just have to be content.
