Hi everyone, I have the worst kind of question, I know. But, I really need some honest advice. In the last few months my truck has pretty well started leaking oil from everywhere possible. Turbo pedistal, ebpv valve, boost tubes (ccv mod will fix, I know.) front seal, rear seal, hpop.... It just goes on and on. Also now they want to put in a new water pump because they said it was leaking pretty good. (That explains my mysterious coolant on the driveway.)Then, I just had the brakes replaced, and now they are bad again, only got about 20k out of this set. And, my "new transmission" is voluntarily allowing the t/c to lock and unlock whenever it feels like it. My mechanic says it is all normal because I have a chip, and with elevated boost pressures it will leak oil like this. I dont even have the wastegate unplugged, so dont even get me started. He is full of you know what, that's for sure.
But, the problem is that if the truck is down, that means I dont work and it has been down a lot recently and it's my busy season. I figured out that I spent less on the payments last year than I did on maintenance. $5000 in loans and $6400 in repairs to be exact. So to get to the point, is it worth it anymore? To fix everything I am looking at another $1500 or so, and I am still waiting for the wheel bearings to go so I believe that's another $1000 when that comes up. I am really considering taking it in and driving away something new. Unfortunately, the 6.0 is NOT an option so that either leaves me with a gasser, YUCK, or another brand. Dont want to go there either.
Sorry to go on and on but it's just getting to be to much. I need some directions from you guys, I respect all of your opinions very much but just not sure how much longer I can hold on. Thanks very much, hope everyone out there is doing good.
