Question Fuel Pump Problem

98 F150 4.6 - I'm having problems with my fuel pump. I have to sometimes turn the key on and off several times for the pump to come on and the truck to start. Anyone have any ideas if it's the pump or an electrical problem with the key switch? Thanks!

ok i would check the wires of the pump first with a voltmeter and see if your getting juice going through them when you open key at once..just to be certain and also when you turn it off......try it and let us know what your getting.

Wiring diagram shows a fuel pump relay in the fuel pump power circuit, which is controlled by the computer. After the power leaves the relay, it runs thru the inertia cut off switch before going on to the fuel pump. Your symptoms are indicative of bad/weak contacts on this relay.
I do not have a clue where it is located, but possibly others on the forum can locate it.
