Headliner removal question?

I'm planning a system for my 2005 Ford Expedition and want to make sure if the headliner is removed it won't activate the side canopy air bags that the Expedition has?

Welcome to FTE! If you disconnected the battery, I'm pretty sure the airbags can't activate.
