np 435 gearshift
Stupid question... but here it goes, how do you remove the gearshift from a NP 435?. Someone told me that you have to push the shaft down in neutral and turn the thin cup to remove. Tried this but it does not want to move down. Is this the right way?. Thanks in advance.

The best way I have found in to put a set of pilers or channel locks around the shifter and push down and turn. Do not actually squeeze the shifer just put the tool of your choice around it. The small tin cup is what you are actually putting downward pressure on. After you push it down, rotate it and it will pop up.
