I just installed a gauge cluster with tach in my 92 f150 with a unit that was taken of a 92 model. Everything worked fine except for the tach. With the
ignition off it read about 500 rpm, when started it idles at 3000 rpm, it will only rev to 4000 rpm on the gauge. Could it be just a bad tach? or did I miss somthing?
I just sold one on Ebay and had the buyer had the same issue. He tore me up and down. Turns out some of the plastic from his own circuit board stuck to the plug and kept the tach from working on the new cluster. He found it, cleaned it, and now working perfect.
