If your truck didnt come with the Gold Coolant from the factory your not supposed to put it in your truck, (So im told). Napa does carry the coolant strips, so does most of the tool makers sales trucks: Matco tools, snap on, Mac tools...ect

I think it had something to do with your engine serial number. Over a certain number and it doesn't matter which you go with. However, if you have green and you put gold in it, it will coagulate. So, if you want to change, you have to flush and drain it till it is clear and free of whatever was in it.

Hmmm, first I heard of the serial number thing. I switched mine out for the gold coolant. Hope it's ok! I did flush and re-flush several times and removed the block drains when I did it.

According to THIS MOTORCRAFT CHART (pdf file), gold can be used on engines built 99 and up. As aklim states, if the engine came with green, flushing is required.
