I want to lift my 2wd 72 Ford F100 and around 3-4 inches. I have heard of people flipping the i-beams but could an alignment shop bend them back enough to get correct camber after this was done? Has anyone actualy done this and how did it turn out? I would prefer to buy lifted i-beams like the lowered ones you see out there but the only ones I can find are in Auto-Fab's kit which is a little out of my price range. I would like to keep the cost of the lift for the front end under $1k. I am not looking for extreme wheel travel to Baja the truck just something to give me more ground clearance and maintain stock ride.
I am in the same boat! I have been looking at all the angles. The AutoFab kits are a huge reem job since all that they are doing is taking stock I-Beams and bending them.
I found that if you flip the I-Beams over and keep them on the same side of the truck that they came off of that the caster angle will remain the same ,but the camber will need to be set by bending the axles.
The only thing that I am still trying to figure out is what to do about the king pins. The wedge pin that holds the king pin in place is not in the center. The only thing that I can come up with is to make new nothches in the king pins to put them in the proper position.
