I have what appears to be two good hinges on my 64 F 100 hood; does anyone know why, when I close the hood the rear sits about a half an inch above the cowl? Do I need to get new hinges or just new hinge springs?
Usually that means new hinges. Some of the pivots in there get worn and won't hold together to shut properly. Maybe someone else has experience in trying to fix these, but I ended up just replacing.
Yep, common failure.
As above, replacement is most usually needed. I've been told, but have not attempted, that hammering the rivets to try to tighten them up will sometimes work.
I haven't picked up a Hemmings in years, but there was an advertiser who rebuilt hood hinges. I don't know how competitive it may be to simply buying new.
