I'm looking for a 2.5" suspension lift for my '96 but cant find one. Where do I get one, how much are they and what do they consist of? Thanks for any input.
I didn't like the shocks that came with the kit, I replaced them with Rancho 5000's, If you have quad shocks on the front you can move the shock infront of the axle to behind the front axle. Other than that you have to get longer shocks. If you can buy the kit for $200.00 without shocks I'd go that way and use what ever shock you decide on.
I like the 2.5 lit over 4. Keeps the bronco more stable but gives it a bit of attitude as well. Best compromise for folks like me who like stock but want a bit more w/o giving up stability on the road. Get er done...
Drilling is required, I suggest buying a set of transfer punches (I bought a set at Harbor Freight for under $10.00) so your holes will be drilled on center, I always drilled a pilot hole first then worked up to the 1/2" holes. Difficulty is the same as a 4" or 6" lift with out extended radius arms. One plus is you don't have to get extended brake lines.
Do you need to use a spring compressor to get the front coils out? Also this is off the subject but I was wondering if I could take that big piece of aluminum off the tailgate and just have the tailgate all the same color?
I had the 2.5 inch Rough Country kit on my 84 F150 (same suspension as your Bronco) I grew out of it and went to a 4 inch. 2.5 is ideal on a daily driven Bronco because it doesn't compromise the stability of the vehicle. It was easy to install, I did mine in my parents garage myself with a jack and jack stands. Make sure you have some good penetrating lube, 1/2 inch drive socket set/ wrenches and a torch around for stubborn nuts and bolts. The stock radius arm brackets are riveted on, you will need to drill them out... overall not too bad of a job.
Since I've already swaped out the radius arm bushing and rivet with grade 8's I recon I'd be a step ahead!
Kids bronco so i want the stability but the stance of a more aggressive - serious ride - doing everything but a frame off restoration now- the project has taken on a life if it's own for sure.
I found that kit in JC whitney for $200 but without the shocks. The shocks cost $160?! Also can I run the shocks I have now or not?
The shocks need to be replaced, although if you have a quad at front, you can can use the longer shocks in place of the shorter ones, so you can get away with 2 sets of shocks.
BTW, it's Rough and Tuff Country that has 2.5" lift kits. I think the latter is better, but it's also more expensive.

hey 94 xlt white/silver 302
great looking bronc
what size tires and wheels are you running (width and back spacing)
I like the stance of your bronc and 69ford99 would be happy with a easy riding bronco too. not bronco two, hee hee.
I plan to lift my 96 white bronco as soon as I do an engine transplant on my '99 ranger.
BTW, can you post pix of the front of your bronc. I would like to take a look at your grilleguard/light hoop. (who made it)
I am planning to build prerunner bumpers for both of my trucks asap.
