12 volt sytem 6 volt starter?

I recently bought out a battery/welding shop and came across some interesting looking, what i thought where starter relays, well they where. You use w 6 vlot batteries in your truck or car or tractor. You keep the entire electrical system 6 volt but when you go to start your truck it give 12 volts to the starter. have to see how many i have but might have some for sale soon.
