I am posting for a friend who has a 99MY V-10, and is looking at getting a chip/tuner for it, I have a search for the topic in earlier discussions but didnt find a good enought answer to take back to him. Also heard about SCT tuners, but when i looked at their site i didnt see a item for a 99 v-10, any help would be great appreciated. Thank you
I had a Hypertech on my 2000 V10 and didnt notice anything. The shifts firmed up but that was it. The main reason I bought it was to read and clear codes and change speedo for larger tires and it didnt do either of thoise functions. Bought mine on Ebay and sold it on Ebay. Used it for 6 months and got back what i payed for it. Wish I could test out all modes like that.
IMO...SCT tuners are the best for FORDs. Do not worry about not seeing a the 99 V10 listed. If you go with the SCT...they will make the tune programs "specific" for your needs. Plus...it is nice to have 3 tune programs for different conditions.
1. Fuel economy mode
2. Towing Mode (firms the shift points, plus more hp/torque)
3. POWER mode (93 octane required)

sct 's web site has search by zip code to help you find a dealer near you. let that dealer do a set of custom tunes for your buddies truck and use a excalibrater 2 not the universal they just came out with.
you can also contact this web sites owner and let ken or jason do a set of custom tunes with a excal2 custom tune
i have spaent much time trying to get mine up to my snuff and found sct's to be the best for a ford of any motor more so do to how you can custom tune on the tuner it self plus the added uses it can do.
