Has anyone heard of the ESOF engaging by itself while driving on the freeway. This happend to a friend a couple of weeks ago. The vehicle while still running would not accelerate in any gear. The vehicle was towed to a tranny shop and an unknown part was replaced and then the ESOF self engaged during a test drive at the shop. The shop replaced the part again for free but disconnected the ESOF and said they didnt know what was wrong, and advised not to hook up the ESOF again.
Anyone heard of this before? THe only parts I can think of that would break under that situation would be the input shaft into the transfer case or the output shaft out of the transfer case.
Maybe a short in the ESOF switch? Short in the solenoid at the transfer case?
P.S. Im an F250 guy, never even been under or even in an Explorer.
