Could anyone give me a diagram of the fuse panel for a 94 ford ranger 2wd 2.3L 5 spd? I just dont have the original manual and don't want to buy one of those $30 books from autozone. What I really need to know is if there is a fuse for the fuel pump separate from the relay? I have replaced the relay and the fuel pump about six months ago. I still have the old relay and it was still good. I got the pump from autozone, so It might be bad already, I just want to check all my options before I buy and replace the fuel pump again. The truck would start sometimes and then not. If I would wait a few hours it would start right up, but now it won't start at all. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks
Well...my Haynes has abandoned me apparently...but lookin' at my '94 4.0L fuse box, I just have the relay. There should be a diagram in your fuse box showing what all the fuses are.
If you enjoy doing things the hard way do NOT click on this link www.helminc.com & do NOT buy the Ford "electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual."/EVTM for about 25 bucks.
I'm pretty sure that the 94's used a fuse-not a fuse link- for the pump, but since I dont have the EVTM or an owners manual for a 94 I cant tell you which fuse it is.
You should be able to find an online wiring diagram at autozone.com
Try resetting the inertia switch in the cab, passengers side, firewall, just above the carpet, or kick pannel area.
If that doesn't fix it, check the inertia switch for power for about two seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to the "run" position.
If you don't have power there, trace things back to the fuel pump relay. if you do have power there, check the lead & any connectors, all the way to the fuel tank, then check the pumps electrical connector for power & a good ground connection.
BTW your library may be a source for a repair manual.
I've already tried the inertia switch under the dash. A friend of mine showed it to me. We tried resetting it, but nothing changed. This weekend I'm gonna try to get to work on this thing. I hope its not a short somewhere, that could get involved. I'm not sure im up to tracing wires this weekend. Thanks for all the help fellas. Wish me luck
