I pulled the right valve cover off and backed off the adjuster on the end #1 rocker and slipped it off. The right rocker shaft was in upside down with the oiling ports going straight up. I pulled the rocker assembly and turned the stands and rockers 180 deg. put the end rocker back on and reinstalled it. Torqued it to 40#. Pulled the left valve cover and end #5 rocker and it is on correctly with the oil ports turned down. adjusted all the rockers and put my half valve covers on and started it up. Its perfect now. pulled the half valve covers and installed my valve covers, changed the oil and filter and took a drive. Every thing sounds and feels great so I just need to put some miles on it to see if this took care of it. With only 2500 easy miles I expect it to use some like gashog said. These new TRW stock type rocker shafts only have 1 set of oiling ports going straight down and No notchs. Thanks every one, Charles
I purchased them from my engine builder when he did my engine. I'm going from memory here but I think it was $25 for both shafts maybe $20 My old ones had some wear and for 20-25 bucks I didnt want to risk it.
Well price them up your way and if this price plus shipping beats that I,ll pick them up for you and mail them. I think it only took him one day to get them so they must be local here.

Glad to hear you got it figured out! I'd bet the mileage goes back up now too. You might want to do a couple full-throttle blasts to clean out the carbon from the combustion chambers.
Thanks Rusty, I'm glad you got yours figured out to. I'll blow it out good and then go back to easy for another 500 miles and recheck my mileage. A little over 17 got me spoiled and wanting more of it. I think I'll shoot for 18 as a goal and see how that works out. I think its realistic with all highway miles.
Update: 300 miles now and the oil level has not moved. It was the shaft upside down and I think it is broken in as well now. Bdox, Sorry for not replying to your question, My plugs on both sides were tan to light tan, Thats one of the things that threw me off on finding it. Thanks everyone ,Charles
Rusty, I need to check it with out my son driving it at all. He is learning how to drive to save gas but just today he was getting on the on ramp and floored it so this tank is shot. 95% of the time he takes off and keeps the vacum at 10-15 up to 40-45. I need to go to East Texas this week so I,ll take it and hope to have an all time high with just highway miles. I,ll let you know how good or bad. Charles
