I have a 2000 f350 and the trailer lights stopped working a couple of days ago. I have looked in the fuse block and checked the fuse at the back of the truck and still nothing. I have checked each prong on the flat and round plug and get nothing on any of them. Are there any more fuses? Any other ideas?
All the fuses for the trailer lights are in the junction block under the hood. A pinched wire in the trailer will normally pop one of the fuses in the first four positions (the mini blades) in the underhood box.
Ford keeps separate fuses for the trailer harness and for the truck's lights. Make sure you are checking the right fuses.
If they are all good, I would check to see if you've got a good ground first. Having no lights at all makes me not as anxious to send you right to chase for a pinched wire or a fouled up trailer plug.
I have a '99 CC SD 4x4 and my left turn signal/brake light for the trailer connecters was not working. After countless hours of testing and chasing wires, I gave up and took it to a shop.
Tech checked every fuse under the hood until he found a bad one. The problem very simply was a mismarked fuse pattern guide in the owner's manual and on the fuse box cover!
