Question Outer cv boot

While getting the oil changed last weel I noticed that greese has been slung out of the outer cv boot on the drivers side.
I was thinking about just getting one of the split boots for a quick fix if they make one for this.I know I'll probably have to do a more permanent repair later but for now maybe this will get me through 'till the money tree sprouts.
How do you go about getting the old boot off?I see a clamp on the small end and the Haynes manual says to get a special tool.I don't see a clamp on the big end next to the wheel. Was there one there?I guess that there was and now it has fallen off and thats why it slung the greese out.
Let me know if I'm on the right track here.I'd like to fix it while i'm off this week. Thanks

It occurred to me that I could look at the passenger side and see if the boot was supposed to be clapped on the other side.It is.Apparently the larger clamp on the drivers side has fallen off.The boot appears to not have any cracks in it.Could I slip the boot down pack it with greese and buy a new clamp or is it impossible to fill the boots with greese if you don't take them off.If you've got any ideas let 'em at me.

How much grease has leaked out?
If there is still some in it and the joint feels ok you can probably get away with filling the boot as best you can and installing a new clamp.

That thought occurred to me after I bought a quick boot yesterday.
In looking at the old boot the clamp is still there. There is a rubber peice that covers the clamp,The other side dosen't have this for whatever reason, and so I couldn't see the clamp and figured it fell off.
I am thinking that the clamp just isn't very tight and it slung the greese out.The boot looks like it is in good shape .If it is I will just put on a new clamp that came with the kit and repack it.
