351- 450 hp?
You’re gonna need to stroke and aluminum heads to do that. Lots of engine builders sell 450HP Windsors on the net but check out what’s in them, big bucks. Have you tried the smallblock forum? It’s a lot easier and cheaper to get that out of a big block like a 460, and more reliable.

351- 450 hp?
Keep in mind that the 350 Chevy is probably the most inexpensive motor to build. Also, what are you putting this motor in? 450 hp is alot of motor, so if you are putting it in an f100 2wd, you could build a motor producing 400hp and it would haul. If I had to guess, I would say that my built FE 416 is producing nearly 425hp, maybe more, and it will move my F250 hiboy 4x4 down the road, up the hills, pulling trailers with tons of hp to spare. I guess my point is, you could just build a healthy 351 in the 350-400 hp range and it wouls be a loaded pocket rocket.

351- 450 hp?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Sep-02 AT 02:51 AM (EST)]I am putting together a 393ci (351W) it uses a Scat (3.850) crank
Keith Black pistons, World Products heads, a custom ground roller cam and many other well selected parts. With this I'm going for 450hp. Only time will tell!

351- 450 hp?
Howd you know? Its going in a 1970 F100 2wd. Im actually agreeing with you I think i will cut back a bit and go for 400hp. Im thinking a 4 speed manual with overdrive and a 350ish rearend. I thin this will give good accelleration, and when put into overdrive a 60 to 70 mph cruize speed. What do you think? Im open for suggestions.

Those gears may be a little high but that motor should pull it. I've seen a lot of the 393 strokers that true2fords mentioned and they are a handfull, not in a bad way. They are great motors and also seem to have good longevity. With that and your choice of cam, intake, 4bbl, ignition and exhaust I'd say your right where you want to be. Maybe some headwork just depends on what you want your motor to be. That OD sounds nice and i hope you can make it work. I always wanted OD in my 4wd but wasn't sure if it could be done. Anyways, hope this helps.

351- 450 hp?
I've got a Ford Racing 351-392 stroker in a 65 Mustang. It's advertised at 430 hp. Cost me 6 large plus. It's hooked to a tremec 5 spd with a 3.25 locker rearend. It's quick and traction is a problem. I imagine it would pull a pickup quite well. Depending on tire diameter, the 3.50 might work.

Where did you get the engine? Sounds loke a doozie! Is it a crate engine from ford? Does ford have a website dedicated to their crate engines?
