I have a 77 f100 and want to replace some of the gauges and upgrade the lights. To do so I have to remove the entire cluster. I have searched the forum and can find several references to removing the gauge cluster but can't find any directions. Thanks for any help.
Remove radio *****,heater *****,they will have lock tabs but I use a screw driver or pliers. If you have an auxiliary fuel tank then you will need to remove that switch as well if it's a factory option. If it's a factory it will be part of the heater control assembly.Remove the **** shaft from the headlight switch and for that you will need to reach up under the dash and feal around the top of the switch assembly for a little button. With one hand pull the switch out past both positions(parking and headlight setting)then push in the little button mentioned above and the whole shaft will slide out of the switch. It may give you a little trouble trying to pull this and push that but it will go if done properly. Now there should be 4 screws near the top of the trim panel that runs around the outside of the instrument cluster, remove them and the screw below the wiper switch. Now remove the screws below the radio then unhook the light near the wiper switch and you can now remove the trim panel.Remove the four screws from the instrument cluster.Pull it forward, enough to get your hand behind it to unhook the flat circuit board wire harness. Now for the last step you may need a flat screw driver to remove the speedometer cable.I have never needed one but I have heard people needing to pry on it so it will release but I always used my fingers to squeeze the tabs and it pops off. What ever you do don't try to force it or it may break.Hope this helps!!

Reason: info
Everything 3rdwshiftzombie lists is correct except you don't have to remove the heater and fuel switch *****. The heater control panel remains in place after you remove the bezel. The ***** do not interfere.
