Thumbs up Please rate computer programmers

If you have used or know of anyone who has one installed, I would like to know which company makes the best computer programmer for the 6.0 powerstroke. I am mostly after fuel milage. Advice on any other upgrades are welcome.

Some use Bully Dog, Banks, Edge, Hypertech, SuperChips, and I am sure there are others that I am missing.

I use a custom tuned SCT XCal2 and feel it is the best for power and transmission tuning. It is not an on the fly type of box but you can change the so many parameters that it makes the trade off an easy one.

Do a search.
There are literally thousands of posts on this subject.
My personal preference is either the Superchips Flashpaq or SCT's Xcalibrator 2

another vote for SCT Xcal

I have not tried any others, so my personal experience is limited, but I have the SCT Xcal from them - NOT custom tuned - 9415 model from their site I believe. I was also looking for mostly the MPG benefits, and have not even tried the performance tune that come with it yet, just the "street" or mild tune. (Their stock unit still comes with 3 tunes, street, tow and performance) I don't plan on racing and don't want to push the limits too much, and after talking with a couple of the guys at SCT I realized they have spent a lot of time working on their stock tunes so why try to redo what they have done...

Even on the mild tune, there is improved throttle response and pickup with a little less turbo lag. I have tried to drive consitently before/after and use my Ex for commuting, same route, etc. I picked up between 1 and 1.5 mpg after using the SCT -- not quite what I was hoping for, but it is an improvement, don't know if a custom tune would gain more or not. This is verified by checking at several fill ups, not the display. The combination of mileage while still gaining in performance justified it for me.

Also, have not yet changed the stock muffler, which I'd bet will help the MPG too. Plan on using the Walker BTM after reading about it here. Hope this helps.
