ABS light (not what you think)
Unplug / re-plug in the ABS unit
I replaced the rear diff. speed sensor
Removed both front rotors and disconnected the wheel speed sensors. (fortunately I could get the rotors off because I put plenty of anti-seize compound on them after the 2 previous times where I had to saw them off as I learned to do on this site.)
After finding nothing apparently wrong with the speed sensors I decided to ohm them out as was mentioned in another post (I assumed it was probably related to these or the hub due to my previous experience trying to remove the rotors) Both sensors appeared to be working the same since they both gave similar readings and changed when the hub was rotated.
Hmmm ... one more check of everything before I give up and have the codes read.
I run my hand along the wiring harness and there it is! near where the harness plugs into the abs unit, the wiring harness is all chewed up. My first thought was an animal, but then I remembered after one trip to get the oil changed, several weeks later I noticed the air filter clamp was dangling, now it occurs to me, guess where the handle of the clamp dangles (sharp edges and all) Right on the wiring harness for the ABS.
Finally a sense of accomplishment ... 5 minutes later, the wiring harness is repaired, ABS light off! I decide to drive it to get it washed, on my way out of the driveway, i feel it missing on a cylinder ... back to work to find the defective COP I guess!
