I have what I hope is a simple question. On my '99 F150, I've gone through all the trouble shooting I know of yet I still can't figure out why my right brake/ turn signal lights don't work through the factory trailer connection. I've checked all the fuses and the truck lights are working. I've even unpluged the wiring harness at the rear of the bed (next to the spare tire) and checked the terminals to see if it was just a broken wire at the rear of the truck. When I traced the green wire from the trailer plug to the matching socket in the harness plug there is no power there either. I'm stumped.
I'm wondering if this is some kind of relay or module or some other dodad I have no clue about. Any help would be appreciated.
I had the exact same problem with my 97 F150. All of the wiring at the plugs, and all of the fuses checked out 100%. I ended up running a jumper wire from the right rear taillight to the 7pin trailer plug and my problem was solved. Kind of frustrating to never really figure out the cause of the problem, but my solution worked fine.

I've done the same but, like you said, it's frustrating (and annoying).
