Hi my truck has been like "jumping into gear". When I first put it into drive it kind of lurches forward. It also does something simular when I put it in reverse but much less sever. I check my u-joints and there didn't apear to be any slop in them. Anyone know what the cause might be? Oh yeah, it only does it when initially put into drive; not when I take off from a stop, just when I first put it into gear. All help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
the same kind of thing happens to me... its more severe when I put it in reverse. Just got my entire front end done... Sometimes it does it more than other times-usually the first time its put in gear. I just keep my foot down hard on the brake when I'm shifting and it doesn't rip my head off... hehe (it really isn't that bad) It hasn't been a problem to me yet anyway. Good luck.
Does that truck have cruise? Mine is like the exat same truck and it was doing that too... turned out when i braked while cruise was engaged it would do that... to fix it i just poped the hood, move the little guard by the throttle and moved with my fingers the spring loaded thing you can use under the hood to rev the engine (sorry dont know its techincal term lol)...
that fixed my problem, Im not saying yours is the same but all it was for me was the accelerator cable was almost like stuck just a tad down because of that thing. hopefully its something simple like that, doesnt cost a dime
Yeah, my truck does have cruise, but I almost never use it. And that black cover is off on my truck already and I haven't noticed the cable to be sticking....will double check just to be sure though.
same problem here. mine takes a second to get into drive. for instance, i start the truck and put it in reverse to pull out of my driveway and as im in the middle of the street i put it into D and it just sits there for 2 seconds then jumps into gear. back when i first bought the truck and didnt know it too well, i put it in D and revved to move away and when it finally got into gear it jumped like 4 feet lol and gave an awefull feeling throughout.
so is my transmission failing? whats going on here?
I wish I could figure out what is causing my our trucks to do this. Is it a problem with the transmission? With the differential? Transfer case? or is it just not a big deal?
