GeoffNJ, good thread. Suprised numbers are so uniform. It looks like driving habits is the largest factor in fuel mileage.
Thanks, that is what I was wondering. The numbers seem to be all over the place when people talk about mileage. So I wanted to know what the rpm range might be and I am suprised to see such uniform numbers.
I have 3.73 gears, auto, level surface 70mph@2000 rpm. Verified with GPS, 68.8 varing +/-.1
ditto on that.. one thing though.. my tires are 2 sizes over stock.. and as far as i can tell my speedo is reading dead nuts... i have timed it using the highway mile markers at 60 mph... 60 seconds per mile on the nose...
68 @ 2000. Not happy about it either. I have taller 285s and my speedo is dead on, verified by radar??? The speed limit on the interstates here is 70. You just know that my mpg goes right in the crapper as soon as I go out there. Can't stand those old people with welding glasses passing me.
I had mine up to the mid 90's a few times. I don't do it enough to figure the RPM's. With 8500 pounds of truck and a state that's only 50 miles wide, there's not much oppurtunity. Not to mention the NJ State Police are always up for a good chase.

50 miles wide!! I'm just imagining driving my old daily drive, 60 miles round trip... enough to drive across NJ and into the next.
