i put a new clutch in mmy 1991 f250 with the 5-speed, and internal slave cyclinder. well i ended up taking the clutch line off so i could get the tranny out of the way to pull the piolit bearing and now the clutch feels really soft, almost like when you have no brakes. the clutch works good though, engages about in the middle. is this normal, since i was use to a stiffer pedal
I`ve noticed that too when a new clutch goes in. Seems like over time you don`t notice the clutch getting stiffer then it feels like there is something wrong with the new one. I think what you have got is normal.
If the clutch is working properly as you mentioned, then it probably working good.
When I bleed out slave cylinder, I fill about 1/8 to 1/4" empty can or bottle (clean) with new brake fluid. Run a clear hose from the bleeder valve to the can or bottle.
Crack the bleeder valve open and have some one pump the clutch pedal. With the clear hose you can visually see the brake fluid come out, and when it clear up tight the bleeder valve when the clutch pedal is in the downward motion. Don't let the clutch master cylinder run dry on brake fluid or the bleeding of air process starts all over again (the reservoir is very small).
