I know that there is a huge thread on this but I searched about 12 of the 36 or so pages and got sick of looking and seeing the same problem discussed over and over and not finding the info that I need. My problem is not that my glow plugs are not working, but today after I changed my oil back to summer wieght (15-40 from 10-30) I was driving along and I noticed that my glow plug light was on in my instrament cluster and it wasn't turning off. What is this about? Is this my gpr acting up? I turned the ignition switch off and started it again and the problem went away but who knows if it is going to start again. I am going on a 1700 kilometre trip in 4 days and I don't need this happening on the road in the middle of nowhere. Some advice on this would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks

Need some info on your vehicle please. The light is activated by the PCM. If u have the SD and not the Excursion it's probably a PCM fault. The PCM only applies a ground to the GPR relay for activation. I would try a power cycle of the batteries which involves disconnecting BOTH battery ground terminals and waiting 5 minutes. Turn on lights too as this will discharge any stored charge in capacitors. Reconnect and see how things go.
