Ok, my dad and I have taken my Explorer out twice now to see if we can detect what might be the problem. Both times my vehicle ran smoothly and quietly.
After we got back from the second trip he put it up on the jack and found some play in my right front, top to bottom movement, which he suspects is a bearing. There is also some back to front play and both tires did this in unison which he suspects is an idler arm.
