Have a 1988 F150 with a 302 and a M5OD. I was wondering what does the clutch do when the slave cylinder is going bad. I put a new clutch in it 2 years ago because a mouse decided to build his nest in there . Anyway, lately it seems like the clutch is getting spongy. Someone said the slave could be getting bad. Is this true. I hope it don't need another new clutch. it's only got probaly 10,000 miles on the clutch. I have done some pulling with it but not all the time. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.
There's a bleed valve on the driver's side of the tranny. Fill it up and bleed it. Your slave may be leaking and that's where the air is coming from. That's why I always change the slave cylinder when I do a clutch on a 5 speed.
It's easy. All you have to do is pull the tranny back far enough to get in there. There are two bolts holding it to the tranny, and there's a white plastic collar that you have to slide out to get the hydraulic line off.
