Has anyone had this done?I have a set i want to give a 3inch drop in ride hieght.Wonderin' if the price will scare me.Am new to spring work.
Thanks!
Oh and why do F-750's in the 70's have the 73-9 cab/hood but use the 67-72 dash?I have wondered this for years. Also i read in a magazine that Pontiac used that hood scoop on some cars. They scratched off the Ford number and put on there own!
most reputable spring shops won't dearch 30 year old springs -- too much liabilty involved with the chance of them breaking after dearching. They'll usually want to make you up a new set with less of an arch and/or reversed eyeletts.
The shade tree way to dearch is to put some jackstands under the frame spaced at the amount of drop you want, and then put the torch on the springs until the truck drops onto the stands. While this will drop your truck, it will also produce unpredictable changes in spring rate, temper, and the basic integrity of the springs giving a chance of breakage or loss of control of the vehicle. This is not advisable . . . but people do do it.
