I have a 1993 ford bronco with a 302. I have had it over heat and quit on me awhile back, no problems untill head gaskets went on it. Changed them out and I now can not get it to run right. It quit on me again the other day. It was running ok then I slowed for a stop light. When I tried to speed up again it had no power to do so. It ran for 2 minutes then cut out completely. It would not sart again untill it cooled completely. The oil and water level were fine and it was not showing on the temp gauge that it was hot. It has a new low temp 160 degree thermostate. before this happened it had either no power or it ran ruff. the only way I got it to run ok was to leave off a vaccume plug.
First thing to get done is to pull that idiotic 160 t-stat out and replace it with a 192. Why they are even sold for that truck is beyond me. It's completely wrong for that application.
Secondly, how many miles are on the motor? How old are the plugs and wires? Have you pulled the codes?
I'll second Tim's welcome and extend a welcome to the Big Bronco Forum in particular.

The first recommendation as andym said, is to pull codes.
I am willing to veture a guess based on your last comment though. Chances are that you are dealing with a dying, deceased, dirty, or demonically possessed IAC. Whatever the case may be, the test to see if its working right is simple. But, pull the codes before assuming my crystal ball is working today.

the tstat is not the correct one to run. the ecu will think the motor is cold and cause it to run in open loop and use way to much fuel in the process. get that changed pull codes like everyone else has mentioned and get back to us
