I have a 2005 F-150 4WD that I have no complaints with except the steering wheel shutters at speeds between 68-72mph. I had the front wheels balanced and it did help some, but I still get the vibratiion at the above speeds. It's not driving me crazy, but any suggestions? My next move is to balance the two rear wheels and move them to the front. There is no uneven tire wear, and the alignment seems fine. FYI there is only 2500 miles on the truck. Thanks for the help!
Hi Buck 1,
I have the same problem on a brand new F150 SC FX4. It is going in the dealer this Thursday and I will not accept my truck back, untill it is fixed. I have also told them that if the engine or transmission had to come out (with only 700miles) I wanted another truck or my money back. If need be, I will take the plates off it and take it to court. I will keep you posted on my progress. I am very happy to have found this group. I feel better already knowing that I am not alone, although I don't wish this on anyone. My dealer is in for a heck of a battle!!!!....Al
Per the tsb the bad racks should have been eliminated by Aug 04 or so production. I didn't believe it for a minute however. My 04 scab built right in that time frame has a rack that should be good, green sticker and all. After being to the dealer over 5 times for various issues I still get the steering wheel nibble at right around 69mph. It varies, sometimes its real bad, others times its almost gone - but it always comes back.
