Thumbs down don't waste your money on mods.

most all of you know i had added a deep trans pan from that well known company. and had nothing but greef with it always leaking oil. and how i had to modify the left side cat down pipe and lower it to clear it at first..

well if any of you should be thinking about that certain pan for get about it. they cnc machine the o-ring grove into the pan, only in 5 spots the ring is inside the trans case just enough to cause leaks big time .

not worth it guys. that set of cats with the y pipe costs $1,248.22 plus a $17.00 gaskey to replace. leave the trans pan alone. yes they do work and cool the oil more.

just till theowner wakes up to my sugesting dosn't machine the grove. let's the owners use the stock gasket and make and furnish a extension for the pump pick up/filter so it sits lower in the pan."they give you a new stock one with the kit" going around a hard turn or up the 25% grade hill to my house the trans would strave for oil. even with the extra 8 qts in it

save your coin gas guys this thing only works on the diesel. learn from me keep your pan cash in the bank. waste it on your g.f. or wifie

theres shot in my tech gallery to see a good shot of how ford tuned the exhaust. also any one thinking true duals email me i just may know where there is set set of good cats to use and save your stock ones.

Good advise Charlie,Good for the rest of us but poor for you! With all your pitfalls in modding your new truck it's nice to have some first hand info on what to, and not to do! To bad the "not to do" cost you all that time and money!

So just curiously did you go back to the stock pan?

yes stock pan!
almost full dead stock for now. all i have on is the headers and muffler. only thing i found truly worth any thing was the sct tuner. recaling the shift point and firmness. adding some fuel and timing mid and top end . the super boost came from the 4:56 gears. "should have gotten it with 30's like fred told me to." but i do love the sound of my flow master 70 when the go pedal is pegged down. and doing away with the torqe mangment programing in the trans. helped gain some getiup

even the afe filter kit is not worth it they claim 12 hp, i saw nothing on my dino pulls. notice kand n sued them" headers did get a touch up stairs 5 hp only.

he 3 valve is what it is! dead stock it runs the best. the super charger kit is the way to make a v10 run it's out most hotest. not this little 5 and dime type junk. even the diff covers are a waste as all they do is add more high cost syntec oil to the unit. temp wise the temps are the same with and with out. tested that also. but they do look good and make serviceing much easier. the magnet dip stick dose work very well.

i caught the thread in time and renamed it . maybe monsta can stickie it and we all can add to it pro or con what works and not work

You may want to rephrase it to "Dont Waist you $ On Mods! The way you said it could give off the wrong impression, lol.

I have the big differential cover (from the same manufacturer) and I have been very please with the unit. Works great, easy to install, no leaks, dipstick to check level, nice.

As for the transpan, I went with the B&M which only adds 3 quarts or so, but it is better than nothing on the 4R100 ... just trying anything to keep it alive a little longer. I did not go with the big 8 quarter because I was worried about interference with my Banks exhaust and also about possible ground clearence issues.

Charlie, your honesty is the reason that so many of us on this forum hold you in such high esteem and I also believe that in 05 , Ford got it right and the stock 3 valve V10 is a joy to own and drive. So far, my Vipor remote, auxilary gas tank, and a few cosmetic things are all that I have done to my Big Bad V10 and this big girl has spanked vehicles that are half the size. Man, I love this truck.

I also agree that the Mag-Hytek differential cover is a good mod. Another good mod to save your transmissions is this valve body:

Your transmission will run cooler and have sharper shifts. Very glad I bought this mod.

I put a PML pan on my 4R100 and it works fine. No leakes, no other mods, simple boltup. And at only a little over $200, didn't break the bank.
Cap'n C- Spoz your hassels was due to the brand, or the Torqshift trany? Even without the leaking seal problem, it doesen't seem right that the exaust should have to be modifyed. What was MHT thinking?!

gary thanks again. how about a link to the company that made your custom emblems i lost it.
ultra
i don't know. all their other minus the 4r work and fit great with no porblems just thses 2 units leak big time.
i even tryed mopar trans pan gasket maker and it leaked but showed right where the o-ring is inside the case by harding over the o-ring. i have made several phone calls and gotten no where. i mean all they have to do is not machine the grove and use the stock gasket just like every thing else they make and there would be no problems .
my last call i was told use a transstar gasket for a 4r100. only the 4r100 and 5r110w now use the very same part number reuseable ford gasket. the others are supersided.
it's not a big thing to not machine and not supply athe oring infact it saves them money. still leaked the oring location causess the leaks it's inside the case. another is i installed 3 on 5r110w 's they all leak.in the same spots. even on the diesels.
the exhaust! the anwser was well it fits a diesel with no problem why not a gas motor.
thanks for the links to the other companys guys . if we don't help each other with good and bad how can all of us stand tight and make the bad products better.

Can you run this mod if you have the Banks Transcommand? I have the transcommand and it seems to work well. The unit in your link is inside the transmission, Is this a better option?

Thanks!

I don't know if you can run it with the Banks. Call and ask them. I feel that this is the best way to go. I really push my engine and tranny and I think that this is one of the best mods I put on the truck.
