I have a set on order now. Had a fabric color mixup and should get them in about 3 weeks. Can't speak to their quality right yet, but maybe then.
Biggest problem I've had is fabric color. First fabric I ordered was no longer available. Second was not available. Got samples and placed the order. Sure hope they don't tell me the same story again.
I see that 2 of the items are from truckaccessory which is where I bought mine. Not too many places with decent looking seats at a somewhat reasonable price.
As with all seats, selection depends on the application. I want mine to be really comfortable for long-haul driving, with fabric so it doesn't get too hot/sweaty in the summer, or show the dirt too quickly. For that reason I have a fabric color that is nearly an exact match with the carpet colour.
For TruckAccessory seats, you'll need to add an adapter to bolt the seats into your cab. It's about $45 if I recall. This also means that by selecting different adapters you can move them between trucks later on (my Plan B).
right They aske what seat ou have bench or bucket so they can give you the right bracket. I wish I knew if my truck was factory buckets, its definately a factory set wit hthe plastice matching console but I dont know if the mounting hardware is modified or not. Its and xlt so I assume its proper.
Mine has factory buckets with the plastic center storage. It's likely yours are too.
The existing slider/rails will not be part of the install, so be sure you have enough movement on the seats. The factory right seat slider has a huge forward/back movement, and that will be lost. I have a supercab, so it will make a difference in rear-seat (storage) accessibility.
Depending on the condition of your seats and/or rails, you will probably be able to sell them. They aren't all that easy to find in good condition.
So I have this black rail structure accross the cab and it has both seats and the console bolted to it....does that sound familiar? Are you saying that the factory sliders wont match up?
Yes, that is the construction of aftermarket seats. The "adapters" go into the traditional seat bolt holes, and then the regular seat goes on top of the adapters. Otherwise, every seat would have to align perfectly with every brand of truck, which isnt too likely.
If you go to their website and step through the seat you are thinking of bidding on, it will show you about the adapters. Suggest this is worthwhile doing in any case as it familiarizes you with the retail offering, which is essentially the same as the ebay one.
Bingo. It explains a lot about how they really go in. Everybody has the same basic construction, but some vendors charge a LOT more than the 41 bucks these guys do.
First order was placed, guy didnt check the fabric was no longer available. Weeks later I learned of the problem. In that window, the dude was fired. Then it took weeks to get fabric samples from the manufacturer.
Well, guess what today? Yup - 2nd fabric for which they actually sent fabric samples is no longer available. I called the fabric-code in a week ago, and only today did the supplier report the issue. Can you believe that? Color was a perfect match too.
I've asked for them to "propose" something that works for the color. They have the reference color to work from. The next couple days will tell. Cant say I'm real happy.
If they can't solve it, I may be better off getting the seats reupholstered and buying new Ford rails (and they aren't cheap!). Fortunately I know where to go because I had some seat upholstery done on my MR2 sports car, and its not too far from my work.
So how did you get samples? That would be nice.....I have a black truck wit hthe grey interior but i really want a set of black leather seats, the contrast goes very good against the grey and the black in the dash...
