ses light and rough accelleration

made a long trailer(5000 lbs) trip to tennn and back this week. ses came on once on the trip coming back home( shortly after a fill-up) ran rough for a few secs.nothing ever again till........shut it off in driveway tonight and restarted after unhooking trailer and now the ses light stays on(not blinking) and rough throttle(not real bad). starts just fine

never had a lick of problem in the 1300 mile trip and mountain driving. not until i filled up in kentucky at a little BP station(local yocal). needs a oil change now also. can a clogged fuel filter give the code and cause this?

Yeah I would go with changing the oil and changing th fuel filter first. Also when you change the filter look inside the bowl and make sure that is is clean and there isnt any water or chunks of stuff in there. You should be able to drain the bowl. Just make sure that it is clean. Also try running some "Diesel Kleen" think that is how you spell it, though it for a tank or too. The stuff makes my truck run better, I use it on every fill up. Its always best to start small, hopfully that will fix it. It amazing what just changing your oil and a fuel filter will do for these things.

i am thinking the uvc harness may have come loose. Is this very tough to fix? i am mechanical. Maybe the long haul loosened it up. never had this issue before at all. it starts and accellerates but a miss is noticeable. i drove in heavy rain and major climbs in tenn and kentucky.parked in rest area for night. started up, left and ran 30 miles to fuel. filled up. ran 20 miles to breakfast. when i came out and started ses light came on and missed a little for a few seconds and went away. drove another 250 miles home(no issues) and now its (ses) on and missing.seemed a little down on power after the fill-up. already drained the filter for water.

2000 7.3l .....no mods that i know of
only seen 14 lbs of boost ever!!!!!

just went out and started this am after setting all night. started fine and NO SES light. runs good again. whats up? cold oil pressure seems higher than before 60 lbs and climbs when idled up. thinking i am going to do the oil change and fuel filter. i have a feeling i did get some bad fuel at my kentucky stop(small station). oil is nasty looking from the trip now also.

even with issue arising this was my first trip with my diesel. it was awesome pulling my trailer up the mountains and passing the guys with gassers with their motors and trannys just a screaming.

There's been several participants here on FTE that fixed driveablility problems with an oil change. However with your SES light coming on, I have doubts about your case.
More likely the wiring harness is coming loose inside the valve cover.

When mine came apart it was on both sides, the drivers side being farther out than the passenger side.

pulled the fuel filter out tonight to check and clean. found 5 old orings that someone didnt get out before i bought it. ran ok until i got about 6 miles down the road then the ses light came back on(solid not flashing) and accels rough(not bad) like a miss. does not stall. no smoke. seems fine when the motor is stone cold. if i let it set all night and start in the morning...NO light and no miss under load. oil still needs changed and it looks thin.

disconnected the harness on top of valve covers(1 at a time) and it ran really bad each time. so do u still think UVC harness issue still?

Make sure your buddy can buzz the injectors that could be your problem with an injector starting to fail
When my #8 went south I had just had my Son-In-Law change had to eat crow after I buzzed the injectors and found 8 dead
It started the next morning after the oil chang and I got down the road about 2 miles when it started missing

Good luck hopes it just air in HPOP

he suggested that i change the oil and run some diesel cleaner in the fuel. he said he used to run some atf(once in awhile) in his fuel when he drove semi.

as i said no issues with starting, no surging when idling. disconnected batteries for a 1/2 hr and still code comes up when its running only. now i bet when i go out in the am it while be fine for awhile again. pedal seems fine slight miss. but when you drop the clutch the truck kinda shutters alittle.

I use the Auto Enginuity Scan Tool Cost 391.95 includes freight with Ford Enhanced Interface Programming But you have to have a laptop computer as its not handheld.
See there site at http://www.autoenginuity.com

Also keep in mind that PSD's are only loosely based on OBDII Systems and not all code readers will extract the codes on a PSD's

I tried the cheap ones from Autozone and O'reilly even went to wally world but none of those would extract the codes and most important buzz testing the injectors. Thats what reasonable will get you is it wont fit!!!!! not being sarcastic just been there done that.
